With 3D being a buzzword in 2011, 2D went in shade. But, 2012 sees a significant improvement in 2D technology with multiple electronic giants launching Full HD panels with higher resolution than existing ones.
HD panels/televisions are those that have a minimum resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. But the recent advancement would scale it as ‘Quad HD’ with resolution four times to that of basic HD configuration.
The 4K HD panels would have 4096 x 2160 pixels resolution that will give more powerful images. Panasonic has already launched a 152 inch prototype that costs a fabulous $650,000.
Price of ‘Quad HD’ might appear beyond the reach of most, but this comes down with time.
More logical and average priced devices could come in 2012. These TV’s will also show 3D images without glasses with advanced active polarization technique.
As an initiative, YouTube is showing some videos at 4K resolution.
BBC is also planning to broadcast London Olympics in 8X resolution for public viewing with special projectors. Spread of these 4K resolution TV isn’t possible since then.
