Heard about Google Fiber, the latest service by Google? Its a service which is supposed to provide 100 times faster internet speed than what most American’s are presently using.
Subscribers of Google fiber will get as fast as 1Gb per second internet speed. It’ll be rolled to different parts of the world slowly but now its only available for the residents of Kansas City of America. The service would start operating by September 2012.
Google fiber is available in 3 plans.
- First plan provides free internet for at least 7 years. A one-time installation charge of 300$ is charged upon users. Speed would be 5Mbps only and there is no other service/hardware support in this plan.
- Second is a monthly subscription of 70$ in which users would get an internet connectivity of 1Gbps speed. Additionally, an installation charge of 300 is also levied. Users would get 1Tb space of Google Drive to store data.
- Third plan is of 120$ with an additional 300$ installation charge. In the plan, full support to Google TV is provided. A space of 2Tb for recoriding TV shows is provided alongwith 1Tb Google Drive space.

The idea is indeed revolutionary but only time will tell if the Google initiave to provide high speed internet connection to all would succeed or not.
The price is high and as per an independent survey, less than 5% people showed their interest in purchasing Google Fiber conection.
Talking about India, it would take long time in reaching to the country and there are every chances that the service would never be available here.
