Facebook’s algorithm is fine tuned for engagement. It has your potential friends to connect with, apps to use, pages and groups to share and discuss topics. In doing so, lot of things are shared between you and your friends. It includes status updates, images, videos and more stuff. But not always you like seeing all these stuff. Sometimes you want certain updates from one friend, and something else from other friends. This is possible by personalizing the feeds stream. Following are 4 easy ways to control stuff that appears in your Facebook news feeds,
- Decide what to view from friends: To see certain updates – say only status updates, no images and videos from a friend, first goto his profile. Hover on the friends buttons; click ‘Settings’. This will open up the types of updates to select. By default, all will be checked. Here uncheck the type of updates you don’t want to receive from the friend.
Or if you want to completely block all updates from a friend then uncheck the ‘Show in Feeds Option’.
- Filter stories from friends list: Facebook allows you to categorize friends in a few already build lists. These include Close Friends, Family, Acquaintance and Restricted. Also you can create a list and put friends in it. These lists would show up in the left-bottom corner of the facebook page. To see updates from friends in the list, just click on the list name.
- Show/hide updates from Facebook friends, pages, groups or apps: Facebook allow users to easily show and hide updates from Facebook friends as well as pages. This can be done by clicking down-arrow against an update.
For friends: Hide few or all updates,

- Sort Stories to your requirement: This little features is there to allows users to sort stories on the basis of response and time. ‘Top Stories’ shows up the stories that gained maximum response (likes, comments, views) while ‘Most Recent’ shows up feeds according to the time.
