In present scenario mobiles and wireless networks are common. Most of you might be using wireless networks like your college/office wi-fi or broadband internet USB dongels for internet connectivity. Today I’ll tell you about a small tool that you can use to easily monitor your local wireless network.
Nirsoft Wireless Network Watcher is a small software (225.83KB only) that scans your wireless network and informs you about systems/people connected to your common network. Wireless Network Watcher can display the following details for every computer connected to your network:
- IP address
- MAC address
- Network card manufacturer name
- Computer name(optional)
You can also save the connected devices information to your hard disk. Saved data can be exported as html/xml/csv/text file, or you can copy the list to the clipboard and then paste into Excel or other spreadsheet application.
There are also some limitations of Wireless Network Watcher.
- It can only detect the wireless network to which you are currently connected and not the others.
- May not detect correct wireless adapter in rare cases-then you need to go for ‘Advanced options’ (F9) and select the correct network adapter manually.
One noticeable point is about its working in small wired networks. Yes, you can also use it for small wired networks but not with the large wired networks like that of offices.
