Generating full website backup is a good practice. It allows webmaster to fully recover a website when server fails and all data is lost.

In full backup, all website and database files, CMS installation, subdomain files are covered. So, virtually no data is lost if you’ve got backup with you.

If you’re using CPanel interface, here are the steps for generating full website backup of a website,

1. Logon to CPanel and go to ‘Backups’.

2. Now select ‘Download or Restore Full website Backup’.

3. Backup generation is a long process. Once you ask for backup, it’ll start constructing on the server side. You’ll be notified when it’ll complete and becomes available for download.

Enter email address where you want notification to be sent. Click ‘Generate Backup’.

4. You’re done. When you’ll receive email for successful backup generation. You can visit your websites root folder and download the generated backup to your system.

The best practice is to get full backup every month. And then take backup of database after every 1-2 days. This will make sure you never lose most vital data in database due to any reason.

If your account is under 500Mb you can perform a full account backup just with one click like we did. But if its large (over 500Mb) then you have to backup every component – website CMS files, database files etc separately.
