Today, Google announced the launch of Google plus pages that allow you to create pages for your business, portfolio just like Facebook pages.
Till now Google plus was only about connecting people but with Google+ pages rolling out, it would provide a new way for business houses and celebrities to connect with their potential customers and fans, respectively.
With Google+ pages, brands can also use hangouts to connect with their circle-mates in a unique way. People can reommend pages with +1 (‘like’ of Facebook) and add to circles for getting updates on regular basis.
Also added with Google plus pages is the ‘Direct Connect’ feature that allows people to search for Google pages directly by entering search query in Google with ‘+’ as prefix. So if you’re looking for ‘yourRavi’ Google plus page then you have to type in ‘+yourRavi’ in Google search.

Many companies use a wide range of Google apps and services. Once their Google+ page is created then they can share all their business ideas, products, deals and surveys directly with their fanbase. Also they have a bag full of resources i.e Google apps that can be conglomerated with Google+ page to further boost their market reach. So, Google plus pages have more than enough sources to attract business houses of all sizes if they can provide better or at least the same service that Facebook pages provide.
But still, Google plus has a long way to go before catching the aura of Facebook but the speed of approach is alarmingly high when you see the rate at which Google plus is surging up. It’s the fastest growing website in the history of internet, almost double to the previously record holder and more than six times to that of Facebook.
By default, reach of Google through its apps and services is well over 1.5 billion as compared to 780 million of Facebook, so if everything goes fine then it could be bad days in store for Facebook.
