It seems as Facebook is facing hard time these days. As the electronic privacy information center is demanding to peek into the matter of Facebook, in which Facebook has tracking users’ activities after logging off. Moreover, the group demands from FTC to check out if the new feature of Facebook which is Ticker and Timeline is providing privacy risk for users.
On this concern, the privacy rights has said that they desire that FTC should investigate about the new feature as if it is consisting to unwanted or fraud professional practices.
Thus, the group has written a letter on Thursday with the FTC.
This letter has everything about Facebook practice, in which the site is tracking log out accounts and this act purely harms users in US by shattering their confidential information and allowing for disclosure and using information in different ways.
This letter has been stamped from other user groups like the American Civil Liberties Union, The Center for Digital Democracy and Consumer Action as well. EPIC director Marc Rotenberg has said The Times, while interview that he wanted to file the highlights of letter for his organization’s concerns, about that agency has not been able to address. Among the concerns, he also highlights other Facebook’s default features like privacy setting and facial recognition.
According to Rotenberg, Evaluation of changes of Facebook is really a tough job and they have said it as they are a professional in this field. So, he doesn’t know about the act of typical users. It is possible that users may choose the option Facebook still is planning for, though Facebook has never provided any option to users. The site is just moving ahead and users keep following their agenda.
On tracking users’ activity, the Facebook Spokesman Andrew Noyes has claimed that the site is not really tracking the activities of users when they log off from their account. This issue has been claimed first by Australian Technical blogger Nik Cubrilovic. Moreover, Noyes has also assured the users that they will get complete control with new developed features of Facebook and they will come to know the way of sharing information.
