DDR2 is advanced version of DDR, which is more efficient, reliable and faster. DDR2 has the potential of running faster than traditional memory because it is a type of SDRAM. Through this type of RAM, data can be transferred on both falling and rising edges of processor’s clock cycles. That is why when DDR2 is functional less time is required to finish huge amount of work. Using DDR2 RAM, you can save lots of your time. DDR1 and DDR2 have lots in common, but still your computer cannot accept both of them, because DDR1 has different design memory. Difference between DDR2 and DDR3
DDR2 is compatible with 4GB per chip, even though DDR3 can support chips up to 8GB. If you want to transfer data through DDR3, it can easily transfer 1600 Mbps. In addition to this, its bandwidth is also superior to DDR2. DDR3 performance and speed is far better than DDR2. It runs faster, requires less power and has longer life. DDR1 and DDR2 RAMs have limited potential to sustain heat but DDR3 has no limit. DDR2 RAM requires 1.8 volts of electricity to operates, but DDR3 can run on 1.5 which means it uses less electricity and can work longer time on electricity backup. Moreover, there is an asynchronous reset pin in DDR3 so that the card can be reset if there is any unexpected or urgent need.
To install any type of DDR RAM you must read motherboard manuals to know if new version of DDR1, DDR2 and DDR3 is supported or not. Each advanced version of DDR is faster than previous versions, but it is not compatible to each computer.
