Government is planning to provide Aakash tablets to college libraries absolutely free of cost with long term prepositions to help students in their studies.
These Aakash tablets will come with pre-loaded lectures on various subjects.
Students can borrow the tablet on rent, whose span would be decided by the concerned college itself.
This announcement might be a big point of interest for most Aakash enthusiasts, but looking at the chronological events and hiccups in tablet distribution, this plan isn’t somthing that’ll be enforced in a month or two.
Government has possession of just 10,000 tablets, lagging to the pre-booked figure of over a lac. More than 1 lac tablets were pre-booked by colleges and schools from all over the country but excluding some IITs, NITs and some ‘lucky’ ones, no other colleges received the delivery.
One of my readers from Hyderabad was informed by his college regarding the extension of tablet delivery date. Tablets were supposed to be available by Feb ’12, but now shifted to April, thus blowing many emotions in fumes.
If you’re a student looking to borrow a tablet, on rent from your college library then you have to wait a bit, 5-6 months, who knows!!!
