You can deal with this by using CSS Sprites and combine different images into one. All images used for website design can be included together to improve website loading time multiple times.

  2. Ads

You must be posting ads on your site for revenue generation. Ads does contribute in reducing website loading speed. We can’t remove ads from the website so its important to carry out some tweaks to keep website performance intact.

The good way is to move JavaScript files present in the ads to the footer section of the webpage. By doing so, you’re loading ads after the webpage’s content.

  3. Social media buttons

Social media buttons are the catalyst in increasing website reach and gaining traffic. Most of you might not know that it’s also plays a big role in making your website going slow. There is a fine tips that can prevent these social media buttons from affecting your website performance.

In place of getting ‘like’ and ‘follow’ code from Facebook and twitter, respectively you can simply give a link to your Facebook and twitter pages. Just add link to your pages just like you add a HTML link, <a href=’link of page’> like us </a>. By dealing this way you’re cutting two useless HTTP connection which has direct impact on your website loading time.

  4. Google custom search

The JavaScript file loaded by the custom search engine is the biggest file loaded in your webpage (~23kb) and is among the main reason for website’s tortoise walk. Google custom search is definitely very important for a website and you can’t afford to remove it.

The best way of dealing this problem is by adding the jsapi.js, a JavaScript file used by custom search code to the bottom of webpages. Go to google.com/jsapi and copy the entire code. Now go to your Google cse code and remove the LOC – <script src="http://www.google.com/jsapi" type="text/javascript"></script>. Add this altered cse code back to your website and paste the copied jsapi JavaScript code to the end of HTML code in webpage’s footer section. Your code should look like <script type="text/javascript"> jsapi code </script>.

One thing to note here is that if you’re webpage size is exceeding ~150kb then it’s better to avoid this technique.
